Dalvin Cook injury update: Vikings get good news on MRI
By Adam Carlson
The Minnesota Vikings suffered in a big loss in Week 12 when Dalvin Cook was carted out after an injury but the team got good news following his MRI.
Sunday was a scary day for Minnesota Vikings fans. The team came up short against the 49ers but the even more terrifying thing was watching star running back Dalvin Cook on the turf in San Franciso waiting to be carted off the field.
The outlook looked bad regarding Cook’s injury. Immediately, fans had to be expecting the worst-case scenario. However, that wasn’t the case as the news regarding his timetable for return was better than most thought.
Here is NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport Twitter post sharing the news regarding Dalvin Cook’s MRI results on Monday:
Cook being able to return this season would be huge for the Vikings if they can get a few wins without him in the lineup. However, if he can return, he will be playing with two injured shoulders that could cause him pain or discomfort.
In the meantime, running backs Alexander Mattison and Kene Nwangwu will need to step up and deliver a good one-two punch of power and speed while Cook rests his shoulders.
The Vikings’ schedule has some winnable games coming up. In Week 13, they will head to Detroit to take on the winless Detriot Lions, Week 14 has them facing the struggling Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football., and Week 15 sends Minnesota to Chicago to take on the Bears.
At the moment, Minnesota sits with a 5-6 record and holds the seventh seed in the NFC playoff picture.
Hopefully, Dalvin Cook can heal quickly and return to the Minnesota Vikings when he is as close to full strength as possible. Thank goodness the injury wasn’t as severe as it looked initially.
