With the Minnesota Vikings heading into what appears to be another sub-.500 finish to the season, this could end up being the team’s last year with Mike Zimmer as their head coach.

Whenever it comes time for the Minnesota Vikings to move on from Mike Zimmer, he will go down as one of the most successful head coaches in the history of the franchise.

Some might find it hard to believe, but Zimmer currently ranks third in win percentage, third in games coached, and third in playoff appearances among the nine head coaches the Vikings have had since their very first season in 1961.

Despite his success, it’s beginning to feel more and more likely that Minnesota could move on from their current head coach after the current season.

A trip to the NFC Championship might be the only thing that prevents Zimmer from being shown the door and the chances of the Vikings making it one game away from the Super Bowl this year seem very low.

So if Minnesota actually decides to say goodbye to Zimmer in 2022, what are some of the reasons why the team could part ways with their longtime head coach?
