Vikings vs. Lions Week 13 Injury Report: 6 players listed for Minnesota
By Adam Carlson
The Minnesota Vikings won’t be at full strength for Sunday’s matchup against the Detroit Lions as they have six players listed on the Week 13 injury report.
Playing against a winless team is usually a good thing. However, this NFL season has been pretty wild with some underdogs getting huge wins and surprising fans who expected a certain outcome that didn’t happen. The Minnesota Vikings know this all too well.
Week 13 sends the purple and gold to the motor city where the Detroit Lions are hoping to upset Minnesota. Meanwhile, the Vikings are looking to get back into the playoff picture after falling out of it after last week’s loss.
Having a healthy squad always helps, Here is the list of players who were given a designation on the Week 13 injury report according to the official website of the Minnesota Vikings.
Minnesota Vikings
OUT
- Camryn Bynum, S – ankle
- Dalvin Cook, RB – shoulder
- Christian Darrisaw, OT – ankle
QUESTIONABLE
- Mackensie Alexander, CB – ribs
- Anthony Barr, LB – knee/hamstring
- Eric Kendricks, LB – biceps
The biggest surprise on this list is the inclusion of Christian Darrisaw. He was injured near the end of last week’s game but it seemed as though he might be good to go for Week 13. Sadly, the rookie offensive tackle will be out this week and Rashod Hill will be filling in for him.
Dalvin Cook is set to miss a few weeks while his shoulder heals. In his place, a combination of Alexander Mattison and Kene Nwangwu should be able to move the ball on the ground while their star running back rests.
Having three members of the defense listed as questionable isn’t a good sign. Eric Kendricks is an essential part of Minnesota’s defense and the team would mist his versatile play immensely if he is unable to go.
Anthony Barr and Mackensie Alexander are both starters who are in danger of missing Sunday’s game as well, but if the Vikings see any reason to question playing them this week, the team might be wise to let them rest.
*No players were listed as doubtful for Minnesota
Detroit Lions
OUT
- Trey Flowers, LB – knee
- Bobby Price, CB – shoulder
- Jalen Reeves-Maybin, LB – shoulder
- D’Andre Swift, RB – shoulder
QUESTIONABLE
- Michael Brockers, DE – knee
- Matt Nelson, OT – ankle
- Penei Sewell, OT – illness/shoulder
Sewell is typically the starting right tackle for the Lions and Matt Nelson serves as his backup. IF something happens and neither can play on Sunday, that would leave Will Holden as the next man up. No matter what happens, this situation means D.J. Wonnum should be able to have a good game.
Having Swift unavailable for Week 13 puts the majority of rushing attempts into the hands of former Packers running back Jamaal Williams with Jermar Jefferson probably getting a share of reps as well.
Defensively, the Lions are hurting. Brockers being out should put Levi Onwuzurike into the starting lineup while two linebackers who won’t be suiting up will make Detroit’s defense susceptible to Minnesota’s offense.
*No players were listed as doubtful for Detroit
