4 most disappointing Vikings in the Week 13 loss to the Lions
By Nik Edlund
Oli Udoh – OL
Oli Udoh has been on the disappointing list more times than not this season, and while he played a new position against the Lions the result was the same. Now Udoh does deserve some credit for moving to left tackle from right guard, which isn’t easy to do midseason, but his play was once again subpar.
Udoh was again a flag magnet and was penalized for false starts and holds. The guy just isn’t quick enough or strong enough to be a starter in the league and it shows every single game as he is penalized for doing what he has to ensure his man doesn’t destroy Kirk Cousins.
Oli Udoh could have a solid career as a backup. The guy has proven to be a versatile piece on the offensive line but may be better in short doses. He can’t hold up as a starter, and it is extremely head-scratching why this coaching staff continues to roll him out there week after week.
It’s time to put Udoh back on the bench and give someone like Wyatt Davis a try at right guard, and maybe go back to Rashod Hill on the left side, until Darrisaw is back.
