5 biggest unsung heroes for the Minnesota Vikings in 2021

Jordan Berry – P
Yes, the punter is getting love, and he definitely deserves it. Many rolled their eyes and maybe even cursed a bit when the Vikings again swapped punters just before the season started.
Bringing in a new face late is always a risk, and there’s a concern of the effect it would have on the holding game as Greg Joseph and Britton Colquitt had been working on their timing throughout the preseason. The timing of the hold could still be off as Joseph has been inconsistent, but Jordan Berry has been such an improvement over Colquitt the switch has looked like a brilliant call by Rick Spielman.
Berry has been fantastic for the Vikings. Just about every week, he boots his team out of some horrible field position and pins opponents inside their own 10-yard line. Unfortunately for the Vikings, the defense hasn’t been able to hold their ground, and despite the great advantage, the punter has given them, the other team often comes back to score the winning touchdown or field goal.
Berry has averaged 46.9 yards a punt this season with a long of 63. That’s a big improvement over last year’s average and Berry should be getting more props for the difference he’s made. Maybe if the team had a few more wins, he would be.
