5 biggest unsung heroes for the Minnesota Vikings in 2021
By Nik Edlund
C.J. Ham – CB
C.J. Ham is a Pro Bowl fullback, so maybe he shouldn’t be on the list of unsung heroes, but he’s still very much underappreciated. Ham does so many things well and they almost always go unnoticed. He definitely has his fans like Mark Sanchez, who can’t stop talking about him during broadcasts, but for the most part, when talking about winners of a game the Vikings play in, Ham’s name is rarely singled out.
His biggest impact is definitely as a run blocker. It’s insane the number of huge, de-cleating hits he has on defenders every single week. He routinely destroys his man driving them up in the air and then onto the turf. He’s the Bob Ross of the blocking world, and would-be tacklers are his paint, and the field is his canvas. It’s a true sight to behold.
What Ham also does extremely well is making the most of his touches and targets on offense. Klint Kubiak does like to call number 30 from time to time, and he’s averaging about five yards per carry. Ham’s also caught 12 passes for 101 yards, with a long of 27. It is definitely strange seeing the fullback streak down the field, but the guy is crazy athletic and can go up and make the grab.
Ham should be in the Pro Bowl every single year, and he should get a lot more love league-wide than he currently does.
