3 reasons why the Vikings should extend Kirk Cousins again
The Minnesota Vikings have never been known to be an incompetent franchise, letting Kirk Cousins walk would take the franchise back years.
Kirk Cousins has been the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings since the 2018 season he has been very good since he has joined. With the Vikings adopting the revolving door method with offensive coordinators, Kirk Cousins has remained constant and has provided stability at the position.
When Cousins joined after the 2017 season, the hope was that we would be the final piece to take Minnesota over the top having lost in the NFC Championship game the previous season.
That may well have been the case if every other aspect of the Vikings’ roster hadn’t regressed significantly since his arrival. The defense has been on a decline since then and an offensive line that was average in 2017 has been in the bottom six every year since.
With the end of his contract approaching, and Cousins being owed a massive $45 million in 2022, the Vikings have a decision to make; extend Kirk Cousins or start over? Here are three reasons why it shouldn’t even be a discussion.
