Vikings Rumors: Patrick Peterson wants to re-sign with Minnesota in 2022
By Adam Carlson
It sounds as though star cornerback Patrick Peterson has an interest in staying with the Minnesota Vikings following the 2021 NFL season.
Patrick Peterson is a potential Pro Football Hall of Fame player. His accomplishments as a cornerback and special teams return man made him a recognizable name to many fans around the world. This season, he has been a reliable defender for the Minnesota Vikings and he could be staying in purple and gold after this year.
Peterson signed a one-year contract with the Vikings last offseason and is set to become a free agent after this season. However, if rumors are to be believed, the veteran defensive back would love to return to Minnesota to keep playing.
Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press recently shared a tweet discussing how someone close to Peterson believes he could be back.
Bryant McFadden knows Peterson quite well and what he said is quite interesting. Peterson made the choice to sign with Minnesota and has played at a high level for the Vikings since his arrival. His age shouldn’t be too much of a factor and his health has been pretty good since he’s played ten games for the team this year.
Considering cornerback depth is a struggle for the Vikings after this season, being able to bring back a defender that has the respect of other teams would be huge for the team. The only real question mark for this process would be if Peterson would want to stay if Minnesota moves on from Mike Zimmer as their head coach and what the financial situation will look like going forward.
It’s great to hear that Patrick Peterson has embraced Minnesota. Most Vikings fans have embraced the veteran cornerback during his stay with the Vikings and would love to see him stay in a purple and gold jersey for at least one more season.
