If Kene Nwangwu had been playing since the start of the season, he would likely have been a lock, to be the return specialist for the 2022 Pro Bowl. In just eight games, he has brought two kickoffs back to the house for a score, and he seems explosive enough to be able to do it again in the near future.

Jakeem Grant of the Bears got the nod instead. He’s an excellent returner. He has 10 punt returns for 249 yards and a touchdown plus 20 kickoff returns for 487 yards. But those numbers aren’t as good as what Nwangwu has been able to do in a short period of time.

Nwangwu has only had 12 kickoff returns in his NFL career and gained 446 on those tries. Those numbers show that he has the potential to be an excellent returner for many years to come, but sadly somehow not good enough to make the Pro Bowl this year.

At only 23-years-old, Kene Nwangwu could have many great years to earn a Pro Bowl nod with the Minnesota Vikings. If he can continue to showcase excellent speed, acceleration, and vision on his returns, he should be part of the special teams unit for many years to come.
