Mackensie Alexander – CB

The Vikings’ cornerbacks have not been very good this season. The only one who doesn’t deserve a lump of coal in their stocking is probably Patrick Peterson, but there are those out there who would make the case he does. If we have to pick just one, and with Bashaud Breeland now being gone, Mackensie Alexander is probably the most deserving.

Alexander’s return to the Vikings was met with much praise. He left as an excellent nickel cornerback who had developed into a sticky coverage man with elite blitzing skills. The Alexander who has returned has been a much different player.

Alexander leaves a huge cushion between him and the man he’s supposed to be covering. Offenses have caught on to this and continually attack No. 24, getting easy completions that aren’t even contested. Alexander also hasn’t been used much as a blitzer, and he doesn’t have a single sack, or quarterback hit this season.

He’s been ranked near the bottom of all corners in the NFL by Pro Football Focus, and his play this year has, no doubt, been lump of coal-worthy.
