5 Bold Predictions: Minnesota Vikings vs. Los Angeles Rams – Week 16
By Chris Schad
Jefferson will be the first receiver to earn 100 yards against Ramsey
There are plenty of great matchups in Sunday’s game, but the main event will be Jalen Ramsey against Justin Jefferson.
Both players are considered to be the best at their position and Sunday’s game will be the first time the two superstars go head-to-head. While some may fear Ramsey will neutralize Jefferson, there’s also a good chance Jefferson could get the best of him.
Jefferson’s sophomore campaign has been a model of consistency posting 70 or more yards in 10 games this season. Although Jefferson has disappeared from some games due to poor playcalling and conservative play, he’s averaging 2.6 yards per route run, meaning that he’s finding ways to deliver even when his number is being called.
That will be huge going up against Ramsey, who is allowing 0.88 yards per coverage snap this season. Like Jefferson, Ramsey has been consistent in shutting down top targets, allowing no receiver to go over 75 yards receiving this season.
But Jefferson’s success will depend on how desperate the Vikings want to get. With Cook out and Thielen likely to be affected by his ankle injury, Jefferson is their most explosive weapon. That could mean targets even if the Rams decide to double him and produce the best game against Ramsey this season.
