5 Bold Predictions: Minnesota Vikings vs. Los Angeles Rams – Week 16
By Chris Schad
Donald will generate 15 pressures against the Vikings
One of the biggest reasons why the victory over the Bears was so ugly was the Vikings’ performance in the trenches. Going up against NFC North bully Akeim Hicks, Garrett Bradbury, and Mason Cole allowed Hicks to create four pressures and get a pair of sacks on a night where Minnesota barely eclipsed 200 yards of total offense.
The Vikings’ consolation prize comes Sunday when they get a chance to go up against Aaron Donald. Two weeks ago, the Rams’ star put on a performance for the ages, generating 14 pressures against the Arizona Cardinals and helping Los Angeles get back into the NFC West title hunt.
When asked about Donald earlier this week, Zimmer basically conceded that a team can try things to slow him down, but he’s good enough to beat them. Leading up to the game, the Vikings are re-inserting Oli Udoh at right guard for Mason Cole, which is another equivalent of waving the white flag.
With Udoh committing an NFL-high 15 penalties this season, things could get horrific along the offensive line. If the Vikings can’t find a way to stop Donald, it could be another long day for the Minnesota offense.
