If this is the matchup, Minnesota is boned

The past two weeks made something really obvious. It’s apparent that the Minnesota Vikings have some huge issues on the interior of their offensive line, but the damage that Akiem Hicks was able to do last week was essentially replicated by Aaron Donald on Sunday.

Minnesota had multiple chances to improve the interior of their offensive line through free agency or during the 2021 NFL Draft. Despite those struggles, rookie Wyatt Davis can’t get playing time and the players who are given a chance at right guard have been disappointing at best.

Fans have been left watching Oli Udoh and Mason Cole get thrown around by good defensive tackles. That has led to Kirk Cousins getting a lot of pressure and taking four hits on Sunday, which isn’t good for a player already dealing with rib issues.

Was this an issue with Rick Spielman not providing the team with enough talent at the position to succeed? Or is this the coaches not being able to scheme or develop personnel? Either way, until an answer is found, expect opposing teams to attack that point of the offensive line.
