Fans have checked out already.

I have attended multiple Minnesota Vikings games in my life. I’ve been to games at the Metrodome and U.S. Bank Stadium, even got to watch the purple and gold beat the Chiefs at TCF Bank Stadium.

However, there was something off about the crowd on Sunday. When the Rams were on offense and it was third down, the camera panning through the audience saw fans just sitting in their seats quietly…and even caught one fan letting out a big yawn.

It’s easy to see why some fans can be frustrated with the product the Vikings have put on the field this season. Still, if someone paid good money to put you in the seats to watch Minnesota play, not making noise and doing what you can to help the team win is a bit of a disservice and can detract from the experience.

This was a big game for many fans still cheering on the hopes of a playoff spot and meant a lot to many players on the field who are working hard to get a win. The lack of noise was apparent to the team, as Anthony Barr told ESPN.com’s Courtney Cronin.
