The Minnesota Vikings are in a tough situation in terms of the salary cap for the 2022 NFL season and some big-name players may be on the chopping block.

Although there are still two games left in the 2021 NFL season, fans should be a little concerned about the next season. The Minnesota Vikings are projected to be approximately $11.18 million over the anticipated salary cap according to Spotrac.

The Vikings will need to figure out a way to get their team under the salary cap upon the start of the new league year and there are some options for how Minnesota can go about freeing up that money.

Of course, the team could restructure some contracts or give extensions to spread out money owed to players, but they could also release some players who have bigger contracts without a lot of guaranteed money.

Let’s take a look at five players for the Vikings who could end up being released based on their large salary for the 2022 NFL season and how much salary cap the team would save by letting them go.
