What options do the Minnesota Vikings have regarding the future of quarterback Kirk Cousins once the 2021 season comes to a conclusion?
Perhaps it was only fitting that the Minnesota Vikings’ playoff chances finally came to an end without quarterback Kirk Cousins, who contracted COVID-19 at the worst possible time before their Week 17 game at the Green Bay Packers. The veteran decided not to get vaccinated – which is his choice – but the irony of this situation hasn’t been lost on many from the outside looking in.
The Vikings are now preparing for what’s going to be an eventful offseason for the franchise. Big changes could be coming to the roster and the coaching staff, with the future of head coach Mike Zimmer coming under increased scrutiny with another failed bid to reach the postseason.
Cousins could find his own future in doubt, too. The former Michigan State star has one-year remaining on his fully guaranteed contract and there is just no telling whether he’ll be under center next season or beyond that.
