6 biggest takeaways from the Vikings loss to the Packers in Week 17

All playoff hopes are gone
The stage was set for this game to be a huge battle between two teams that had a lot to gain by winning. Then came the news that Kirk Cousins tested positive for COVID-19 followed by Michael Pierce being sick and ending with Cameron Dantzler being inactive due to a calf injury.
During the previous meeting between these two teams this season, the Packers were incredibly beat up with many starters out. Minnesota was able to take advantage of that and beat Green Bay. This time, the Vikings weren’t able to overcome their struggles.
This loss hurts a lot. Not only is it a big defeat at the hands of the team that has been dominant in the NFC North, but it dropped the Vikings to a 7-9 record, eliminated them from playoff contention, and guaranteed a losing record for the season.
Even though there is still football left to play this season, fans are likely already shifting their focus to the offseason where there could be coaching changes, front office moves, major character transactions, and much more to keep Minnesota Vikings fans on their toes.
