Kris Boyd – CB

With Bashaud Breeland off the roster and Cameron Dantzler out, it was Kris Boyd‘s turn to get a start against the Green Bay Packers. That start didn’t go very well.

Boyd has shown some flashes in his young career, but he was absolutely scorched by the Packers receiving corps on Sunday night. Whether it was Davante Adams or Allen Lazard, Boyd didn’t stand a chance, and Rodgers knew he had an easy completion every time he threw the ball 29’s way.

Boyd just doesn’t turn around to find the ball and make a play on it. He constantly face-guards his man and then just randomly swings his arms around, hoping to make contact with the ball. This allows the receiver to see the ball uncontested and go up and find it.

Boyd’s style is extremely baffling when his head coach is supposed to be a cornerback whisperer. One would think he’d be coached up a little better and seeing that sloppy technique is very troubling.

Yes, Boyd is a third-string corner and can’t be held to the same standards as a veteran starter, but when given an opportunity, one needs to make the most of it. The fact that Boyd couldn’t do that, and instead he struggled badly, was very disappointing to see and very hard to watch.
