Will the Vikings move on from Mike Zimmer?

There is no denying that Mike Zimmer loves the game of football and is a solid defensive mind. As a head coach, he seems to struggle with quite a few things that make him a prime candidate to move on from this offseason.

Whether it is preparing, game-planning, or personnel, there have been several questions regarding his choices over his time in Minnesota and some of them have come back to haunt him or have been highly scrutinized by the media and fans.

Zimmer joined the Vikings in 2014 and his old school mentality from the Bill Parcells coaching tree was a refreshing change but the game seems to have passed him by as his stellar defenses have struggled in recent years. Plus, he will turn 66 years old in June.

It may be time for the Minnesota Vikings to look into an offensive-minded head coach to lead this team moving forward while bringing on an experienced defensive coordinator. Otherwise, if he isn’t let go, Zimmer’s philosophy of running the football and playing good defense might be here to stay for at least one more year.
