8 realistic candidates to be the next Vikings general manager
By Dean Jones
Monti Ossenfort
The Tennessee Titans‘ story this season is remarkable. Despite losing Derrick Henry, they still managed to lock up the No. 1 seed in the AFC, and a bold Super Bowl bid is expected with the running back now returning to full health in time for the playoffs.
Of course, coaching plays a huge factor. But the work transpiring behind the scenes in terms of recruitment and player management is something that cannot be ignored.
Monti Ossenfort is an influential figure within the organization as director of player personnel. He had two interviews with the Carolina Panthers last year and might be tempted by the significant but enticing challenge the Minnesota Vikings would undoubtedly provide.
One suspects it won’t be much longer before Ossenfort gets a top job. If the Titans are lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy in the coming weeks, it will only strengthen his claims.
This is another strong candidate the Vikings should consider. Ossenfort ticks every box, and it would represent a significant coup from Minnesota’s perspective if they could pull it off, providing there is a mutual interest.
