New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is reportedly someone the Minnesota Vikings have a strong interest in to be their next head coach.

On Saturday, the Minnesota Vikings made requests to interview at least seven different candidates to possibly be their next head coach according to multiple reports. However, chances are pretty high that the Vikings will probably meet with even more head-coaching candidates before they make their final decision on the vacancy.

Among those who could end up interviewing with Minnesota in the near future to be their next head coach is current New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

McDaniels reportedly was not going to meet with any teams about head-coaching opportunities until after the Patriots were eliminated from this season’s playoffs according to Aaron Wilson of Houston’s SportsTalk 790. Well, New England’s postseason journey ended on Saturday, so one should expect the team’s longtime offensive coordinator to begin interviewing with teams shortly.

In addition to sharing that McDaniels wasn’t going to participate in any interviews until the Patriots were eliminated from the playoffs, Wilson also reported that the Vikings are one of three teams from around the NFL that are “strongly considering,” the New England assistant to be their next head coach.

In addition to Minnesota, Wilson reported that the Chicago Bears and New York Giants also have interest in McDaniels for their team’s head-coaching vacancies.

A few days ago, we shared the news about NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport linking McDaniels to the Vikings due to Minnesota no longer having a general manager in place. Rapoport believes the teams that are also in need of a new general manager have the best chance at landing the Patriots assistant to be their next head coach.
