6 head coach candidates with a connection to the new Vikings GM
By Adam Patrick
Which candidates to be the next head coach of the Minnesota Vikings have a connection to the team’s new general manager, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah?
Well, the Minnesota Vikings finally made it official on Wednesday when they announced the hiring of Kwesi Adofo-Mensah as their new general manager.
Mensah is expected to bring a data-driven approach to roster building that is becoming more of the norm around the NFL, but it’s not something that the Vikings, or their fan base, are accustomed to.
Before Minnesota’s new general manager even begins to look at the team’s roster, he must first find the organization a new head coach. So far, the Vikings have already interviewed eight candidates for Mike Zimmer’s old job, and it’s unknown if they are going to meet with anyone else.
With Adofo-Mensah having a role in the NFL since 2013, he actually has connections to some of the candidates that Minnesota has already met with, and some connections to a few possible candidates that haven’t met with the team as well.
Adofo-Mensah was a member of the San Francisco 49ers‘ research and development department from 2013 to 2019, and a bunch of his connections to head-coaching candidates comes from his tenure with the five-time Super Bowl champions.
So who are some of these head-coaching candidates that have a known or reported connection with the newest general manager of the Vikings?
