Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is backing out of this season’s Pro Bowl due to injury, so he will be replaced by Minnesota Vikings passer Kirk Cousins.
After he threw for 33 touchdowns and over 4,200 yards during the 2021 season, many thought Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins was deserving of a trip to the Pro Bowl.
Unfortunately, for Cousins, he was not one of the three signal-callers that were selected to this season’s Pro Bowl. On Monday, however, it was announced that Minnesota’s starting passer will be replacing Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers at this season’s Pro Bowl.
Rodgers is bowing out of the league’s annual all-star game due to injury, so Cousins is now heading to the Pro Bowl for the third time in his NFL career.
Will the Pro Bowl be the last time Kirk Cousins wears a Minnesota Vikings helmet?
Depending on what takes place during the next few months, the Pro Bowl might be the last time we see Cousins take the field with a Vikings helmet.
The Minnesota quarterback has one year remaining on his current contract and there have already been plenty of rumors about him potentially being sent elsewhere this offseason.
There are several teams around the NFL that could be interested in trading for Cousins this year including the Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and San Francisco 49ers.
With the news about Cousins on Monday, the Vikings now have a total of five players heading to this season’s Pro Bowl. The Minnesota quarterback will join running back Dalvin Cook, wide receiver Justin Jefferson, offensive tackle Brian O’Neill, and safety Harrison Smith in the NFL’s annual all-star contest.
