The Denver Broncos have made former Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak an important part of their coaching staff.
Fans of the Minnesota Vikings were hoping for some coaching news on Wednesday, Feb. 2. With Jim Harbaugh in town, all eyes are on that situation. However, fans learned that a coordinator wouldn’t be returning to the team for the 2022 season.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rappoport, Klint Kubiak is expected to join the Denver Broncos to take on a job on their coaching staff, leaving Minnesota before the team selects their next head coach.
Here is the Tweet:
This is an interesting move for Kubiak. He will be taking a step back from being an offensive coordinator to work underneath new Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett as their QB coach and passing game coordinator.
Klint’s father, Gary Kubiak, was a part of the Broncos organization from 1995 to 2005 as an offensive coordinator and again from 2015 to 2016 as their head coach. Gary worked with Hackett during his time in Denver.
What did Klint Kubiak do for the Minnesota Vikings?
In Minnesota, Klint Kubiak called the offensive plays and worked with Kirk Cousins to help him have one of the best statistical seasons of his career. Although Kubiak will likely not have any play-calling duties, the Broncos are in a situation where they will likely need to look for a new quarterback if they don’t believe in Drew Lock going forward.
It’s nice to see Klint Kubiak finding a position for himself in 2022. His position with the Vikings was not assured since the team has hired a new general manager and will likely make a decision on a new head coach soon. Best of luck to him on his new position with the Broncos.
