Former Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman has drawn the interest of a certain AFC South team that could use some major help.

It was somewhat surprising when the Minnesota Vikings and general manager Rick Spielman parted ways following the 2021 season. Speilman had led this team for many years and brought quite a few talented players to the team through the draft and free agency but now finds himself looking for a new opportunity.

It seems as though the former Vikings GM has found a position that interests him and would present a bit of a challenge as well. NFL insider Ian Rapoport shared the news on Twitter that he has interviewed for a position with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Here is that tweet:

How would the former Minnesota Vikings GM fare in Jacksonville?

Jacksonville finished the 2021 season with the worst record in the league and the number one overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. Spielman’s background in scouting and personnel makes him a huge asset to any team that has him in their front office, even if it is not as a general manager.

One position Spielman has always struggled to draft is the quarterback. The Jaguars have their passer of the future in Trevor Lawrence. Now, the team needs to surround him with talent and build a defense to support him. That is where Spielman could be a big benefit in helping to shape the team’s roster.

The stress would be off Spielman since he no longer has the accountability of a general manager and can focus on building a strong roster for Duval.
