4 ways the Minnesota Vikings can avoid disaster this offseason

How can the Minnesota Vikings avoid disaster during a pivotal 2022 offseason for the franchise?
It’s been a dramatic start to the offseason for everyone associated with the Minnesota Vikings. Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman were removed from their positions of power on Black Monday after another season with no playoff football to speak of, which was probably the right decision with the team currently at a real crossroads regarding contention or moving into a potential rebuild.
Now that appointments have been made, it’s vital that the new arrivals really stamp their mark on the Vikings from the word go. This is still a talented roster with good young players to build around, although this won’t be easy given how up against it Minnesota is against the cap right now.
What comes next over the next few months before OTAs and training camp roll around is of critical importance. One that could shape the short and long-term future of the franchise.
With this in mind, here are four ways the Vikings can avoid disaster this offseason.
Way No. 1
Vikings must allow their new GM to flourish
Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was the man chosen by the Vikings to replace Rick Spielman. This was seen as an eye-catching move for one of the league’s most respected young front office figures, but it’s now vital Minnesota gives him the freedom to flourish with extra responsibility on his shoulders.
This is a period of transition for the Vikings following the decision by ownership to clean house in pursuit of getting back among the playoff contenders. Adofo-Mensah’s going to play a significant part in this and micro-managing his decision-making process would not be smart for the Wilf family to do.
They need to show a supreme level of confidence in Adofo-Mensah. This will give him the best possible chance of hitting the ground running.
