Denver Broncos

Out of all the teams on this list, the Broncos should probably be viewed as the favorite to sign Anthony Barr this year.

The connection between Barr and current Denver general manager George Paton is easy to make since Paton was part of the front office in Minnesota that decided to draft the linebacker in 2014.

But that’s not where the connections between Barr and Paton stop. Not only were they both members of the Vikings from 2014 to 2020, but the veteran defender and the Broncos general manager both graduated from the same college (UCLA) and the same high school (Loyola High School in Los Angeles).

Currently, Denver is projected to have a little under $40 million in cap space when the new league year begins in March. So affordability shouldn’t be an issue for the Broncos if they want to sign Barr offseason.

Denver doesn’t currently have a defensive coordinator in place, so it’s unclear what direction they want to head with their defense. No matter who they end up hiring though, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Paton makes an attempt to add Barr to the Broncos’ roster before the 2022 season.
