With the 2021 season now officially over, odds are out for the 2022 season and the Super Bowl odds for the Minnesota Vikings are surprisingly high.
On Sunday night, Minnesota Vikings fans had the opportunity to watch Kevin O’Connell, the guy who will reportedly become the team’s next head coach, help lead the Los Angeles Rams to a win in the Super Bowl over the Cincinnati Bengals.
As the Rams offensive coordinator, O’Connell played a key role in developing an offense that was one of the best in the NFL during the 2021 season thanks in part to a terrific passing attack led by quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
Now, the Vikings are hoping O’Connell can take what he learned from helping Los Angeles win the Super Bowl and use it to help deliver Minnesota its first-ever Vince Lombardi trophy.
Early 2022 Super Bowl odds indicate Kevin O’Connell will make an immediate impact for Minnesota Vikings
When the 2021 regular season came to a close, the Vikings ended up finishing as the ninth-best team in the NFC. Early odds for the 2022 season seem to indicate that Minnesota is going to perform much better with O’Connell as their head coach.
WynnBET recently released their early Super Bowl odds for the 2022 campaign, and at +2500, the Vikings currently have the 13th-best odds in the NFL and the fifth-best odds in the NFC.
The Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, and Green Bay Packers are currently the only four teams in the NFC with better 2022 Super Bowl odds than Minnesota.
Obviously, these odds are going to change during the next few months as players are traded, guys are added in free agency, and prospects are selected in the NFL Draft.
For now though, oddsmakers appear to approve of the Vikings’ decision to hire O’Connell this year as they also have the second-best 2022 Super Bowl odds among the nine teams from around the league that have hired a new head coach this offseason.
