Melvin Gordon – Denver Broncos

It would take a specific scenario for the Minnesota Vikings to approach Melvin Gordon in free agency. Specifically, something would need to happen that would cause Dalvin Cook to not be on the field for the Vikings in 2022.

Using Gordon in a committee with Alexander Mattison and Kene Nwangwu is the kind of recipe that many teams have used to achieve success in the NFL. The days of a feature running back are numbered in the NFL and committees to keep costs low and players fresh seem to be the future of the position.

28-year-old Melvin Gordon has found success in Denver. In the mile-high city, he has averaged 4.6 yards per carry while starting 26 games over the last two seasons. He didn’t have that kind of success with the Chargers other than one 1,000 yard rushing season and one year where he averaged 5.1 yards per carry.

Gordon likely won’t be a target of the Vikings unless Dalvin Cook isn’t a part of their future plans or something devastating happens before the start of the season. But if that scenario arises, Gordon would have to be interesting for Minnesota’s front office.
