Agent for Deshaun Watson comments on Vikings rumors
By Adam Patrick
The agent for Deshaun Watson recently gave his thoughts on the rumor about the Houston Texans quarterback having interest in the Minnesota Vikings.
A few days ago, the Minnesota Vikings were randomly placed in the Deshaun Watson rumor-mill when it was revealed that the Houston Texans quarterback apparently has the purple and gold on his radar as a potential landing spot according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Given Minnesota’s current salary cap situation, acquiring Watson isn’t something that would help them free up any extra spending money.
Combine this with the uncertainty surrounding Watson’s current legal situation that has him facing 22 civil lawsuits which accuse him of sexual assault and misconduct, the chances of the quarterback actually ending up with the Vikings seem very low.
Agent for Deshaun Watson disputes the rumor of the Houston Texans QB having interest in the Minnesota Vikings
This rumored interest that Watson apparently has in Minnesota came a bit out of nowhere and the quarterback’s agent, David Mulugheta, recently shared his thoughts on this recent chatter.
According to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson on Thursday, Mulugheta told her that he and Watson “haven’t had any talks among ourselves or with teams about possible destinations as we are focused on clearing Deshaun’s name at this time.”
Anderson also added that Mulugheta revealed to her that there is no truth to the Vikings currently being on his client’s radar.
It’s not surprising to read Watson’s agent is disputing Fowler’s report. He wants to make sure the quarterback has as many options as possible if the Texans are going to trade him this offseason.
For now, Watson’s association with Minnesota still just seems like nothing more than a rumor. Could things change? Of course, but, at this point, don’t put any money down on Houston trading the quarterback to the Vikings this year.
