Which current Minnesota Vikings players could be trending towards draft bust status if things don’t improve in 2022?

It is an exciting time for the Minnesota Vikings following Kevin O’Connell’s official confirmation as the team’s head coach this week after contributing to a memorable Super Bowl championship for the Los Angeles Rams.

The new appointment certainly came across well during his introductory presser alongside new general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, which signals a real changing of the guard after Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman’s long-standing and often successful partnership came to an end after missing the playoffs once again in 2021.

There is much work for O’Connell and his staff to undertake in the coming weeks. The Vikings are up against it from a financial standpoint and have some obvious problems they need to solve in pursuit of making a return to the postseason following a two-year absence.

One thing that became synonymous with Spielman’s tenure in Minnesota was acquiring a hoard of draft picks via trade. This method could be going out of style quickly given the Rams’ success, but it appears to be the best way of building up an organization into contention.

Minnesota has had a lot of success higher up the draft in recent years. But there are some who are in danger of failing to meet expectations unless things turn around dramatically under a different staff.

With this in mind, here are three Vikings players who are trending towards draft bust status.
