As the Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers figures out his future, Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook has a request for the reigning NFL MVP.
During each of the last three seasons, Dalvin Cook and the Minnesota Vikings have been forced to watch Aaron Rodgers lead the Green Bay Packers to the top of the NFC North.
With rumors about Rodgers possibly being done with the Packers and joining another NFL team this year, Cook can see the light at end of the divisional tunnel.
During a recent interview with Sports on DIRECTV, the Vikings running back shared what he thinks Green Bay’s All-Pro quarterback should do this offseason.
"“I’m hoping he goes to Denver or something like that. Aaron you hear this? Just go to Denver or something. Just go on and get out of the division and let us get our division back. That’ll be okay. Thank you.I don’t care where he goes, just get out of the [NFC North]. Just stay out of the [NFC North], take Davante Adams with you, and y’all go do your thing wherever y’all are going to go, and just let the men in purple [get] their division back.”"
Would the Minnesota Vikings be the favorites in the NFC North if Aaron Rodgers leaves the Green Bay Packers?
If Rodgers does indeed part ways with the Packers and join another team this year, one might assume that Minnesota would immediately become the favorites to finish at the top of the NFC North during the 2022 season.
However, a lot of that will depend on the Vikings’ own roster decisions during the next few weeks, especially since there are still questions about what they will be doing with their own starting quarterback, Kirk Cousins.
If Minnesota sticks with Cousins for at least one more year, then sure, pencil them in as the favorites to win the NFC North next season. But the Vikings’ new regime and their ownership have also stated during the last few weeks that the team will be doing whatever is best for the team moving forward.
If Minnesota feels their future is better off by trading Cousins and any other high-priced veterans in exchange for draft capital and cap space, then their roster is going to look a whole lot different once the 2022 season begins. And if this is the route the Vikings take this year, then the NFC North is a division that could be up for grabs during the 2022 campaign.
