A new era dawns for the Minnesota Vikings after the organization decided to completely move the needle by firing general manager Rick Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer following a long and sometimes successful stint in positions of power. Missing the postseason for the second-straight year dictated one would probably depart, but for both to leave means it could be an eventful offseason period when it comes to personnel movement.
This task will fall squarely on the shoulders of Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Kevin O’Connell, two progressive young minds who thoroughly deserve their opportunity in Minnesota. It promises to be a baptism of fire for the duo, with the status of some veterans up in the air coupled with the Vikings being $14.72 million over the cap right now.
Just how the Vikings are going to approach free agency and the 2022 NFL Draft is unclear. There is simply no way to know with little to go off regarding the team’s new appointments.
There is also the prospect of Minnesota becoming active in the trade market. They need to get their financial commitments down, and if they receive suitable offers for some current members of the roster, they would be foolish not to explore some possibilities.
