Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyle Sloter was among those selected in the USFL Draft on Tuesday, as he was picked by the New Orleans Breakers.

During the early portion of his NFL career, things looked like they were heading in an optimistic direction for former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyle Sloter.

He spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons on the Vikings‘ roster and most figured he would continue his tenure with the team in 2019 as well.

Unfortunately, Minnesota decided to stick with Sean Mannion as their No. 2 quarterback for the 2019 season, and the team waived Sloter as part of their final preseason cuts.

Since he was let go by the Vikings before the start of the 2019 regular season, Sloter has had stints with a number of other teams around the NFL including the Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, and Las Vegas Raiders.

He even had a very brief return with Minnesota last season when the team needed more quarterback depth after Kirk Cousins was forced to sit out due to testing positive for COVID-19.

Well, now Sloter is going to see what he can do in a different professional football league as he was among the players selected in the first round of the USFL Draft that took place on Tuesday.

The former Minnesota quarterback was selected by the New Orleans Breakers with the eighth and final pick in the first round of the draft. The Breakers will be led by head coach Larry Fedora, who spent 2012 to 2018 as the head coach at the University of North Carolina.

Sloter was one of 101 players that were selected on the first day of the USFL Draft and he wasn’t the only former Vikings quarterback to be picked. Case Cookus, who spent a few days with Minnesota last summer, was drafted in the 12th round by the Philadelphia Stars.
