Attempt to re-sign Patrick Peterson

There are some sound arguments against bringing back Patrick Peterson. He will likely bring a price tag of somewhere from $8M to 10M to get under contract and is on the wrong side of 30 years old. However, the Minnesota Vikings need to do what they can to bring the well-respected defender back.

Unless this team is looking at a rebuilding stage, they will need to load up at cornerback. At this time, Cameron Dantzler, Kris Boyd, and the rest of the corners on the roster aren’t ready to step into two starting roles. Peterson would not only give a veteran presence in the group but he can immediately be plugged in as a starter on a team where no other corner makes more than $1.1W.

Even if the Vikings are planning on using their first-round pick on a corner, they still need more help and should make bringing Patrick Peterson back to Minnesota a top priority, especially since he has already expressed interest in returning.

This means that the team will need to find a way to free some salary cap for Peterson. There are some players who could be approached for restructures or extensions this offseason, and if they can free up the space, P2 needs to be on this roster.
