7 free-agent defensive ends the Vikings could sign in 2022

Tyler Lancaster
2021 Team: Green Bay Packers
Tyler Lancaster isn’t a player whose stats will knock your socks off. He’s a blue-collar type of player who does his job and does it well, even if it doesn’t light up the box score. Lancaster has been a very valuable backup in his time with the Packers, appearing in 59 total games with 21 starts.
He only has 1.5 career sacks, but he does have 110 tackles proving that he can locate the ball carrier and bring him to the ground. He does have six tackles for a loss and has hit the opposing quarterback six times.
The Vikings aren’t going to have a ton of money to spend and are going to be looking for some bargains. What makes Lancaster attractive is his experience playing in this system and the fact that he’s only 27-years-old.
Even if he isn’t a starter, he can provide quality depth at a position that will likely have a lot of newbies at the position. His experience would be very valuable.
Lancaster also has connections to new Vikings’ assistant head coach Mike Pettine and their new outside linebackers coach Mike Smith. They will definitely know the value Lancaster would bring to this roster and the importance his experience would have.
