7 free-agent defensive ends the Vikings could sign in 2022
By Nik Edlund
Emmanuel Ogbah
2021 Team: Miami Dolphins
Emmanuel Ogbah is one of the bigger names on this list and a guy who has had some great success in the league. Ogbah started out as a second-round pick of the Cleveland Browns back in 2016.
He started every game as a rookie and had 5.5 sacks his first season. After three solid seasons with the Browns, he was dealt to the Kansas City Chiefs for safety Eric Murray.
He then was signed as a free agent by the Dolphins, earning himself a nice little contract. Ogbah has proven to be a stout run defender, but he can also get after the quarterback.
He’s had back-to-back nine sack seasons and has racked up 36 in his career. He’s also proven to be quite durable, playing in 83 career games with 67 starts.
Ogbah is still relatively young at 28 and still has quite a few years of solid football ahead of him. It’s unclear what type of contract he would get on the open market, but it likely would be toward the top of the Vikings’ budget.
That being said, he’d be a solid addition to the Vikings’ new 3-4 front, giving them an experienced end who has proven capable of getting after the passer.
