Can Cousins even compare to Aaron Rodgers?

Aaron Rodgers is once again going to steal headlines until he makes his decision regarding his future with the Green Bay Packers. If he decides he wants out, there will be a robust market to elevate teams from pretenders to contenders.

While his playoff performance has been the cause of a lot of jokes over the years, Rodgers is still a 4x NFL MVP, a Super Bowl champion, and one of the best passers in the league. If he wants to play somewhere else, it will happen.

Rodgers has been linked to the Broncos a lot, especially after Denver hired Nathaniel Hackett as its next head coach. If they were to strike a deal for Rodgers, it would likely include the ninth overall pick in 2022, a second-round selection this year, and a first-round selection in 2023. Green Bay could probably even ask for more if they desired.

Kirk Cousins is not going to net that sort of compensation since he is not the same roster-elevator that Rodgers has proven to be. Rodgers has done a lot more with a lot less at the wide receiver position. If we take off the Vikings blinders, I think that’s a pretty obvious statement.

Cousins can still net a pretty decent return should he be traded but Aaron Rodgers is not the guy to look at when we evaluate him on the trade market. Rodgers is simply a more proven quarterback with a clear desire to win a championship.

As well as Cousins has played lately, he has never been the type of quarterback to carry a team on his back and a trade for him would have to go to a QB-needy team that has a strong roster built around the position, which Denver does present.
