Teddy Bridgewater – QB

2021 Team: Denver Broncos

As of this moment, all signs still point to Kirk Cousins staying with the Vikings. However, if Minnesota does get offered a trade that they can’t refuse, they’ll probably be looking for a veteran quarterback to “bridge” the gap, and Teddy could be a great fit.

Sure, Teddy Bridgewater has his downside. He tends to overshoot receivers on deep balls, and his overall accuracy is erratic. He can still make plays with his legs, and make enough throws to keep the chains moving and to get his offense into scoring position.

Despite the catastrophic knee injury he suffered in 2016, the dude has managed to keep his NFL career going, even if he’s played for about half of the teams in the league.

Bridgewater was with the Broncos last season where he threw for 3,052 yards, 18 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He completed 66.9 percent of his passes and finished with a 94.9 quarterback rating. With all the weapons in the Vikings’ offense, the worst-case scenario would be that Bridgewater at least matches those numbers.

Bridgewater has developed into a journeyman starter for a team that hasn’t yet found their long-term solution at the quarterback position. If Cousins is traded, Bridgewater could find himself back in Minnesota, filling that role for the Vikings.
