Center will likely not be the center of attention

Perhaps one of the most surprising name drops of the press conference was the mention of center Garrett Bradbury, a first-round pick that hasn’t quite lived up to the expectations that came with his selection.

O’Connell talked about how the tackles were strong and there was “a lot to like” with the team’s guards but name-dropped Bradbury and Mason Cole as players he liked and can build off going forward.

A follow-up question about Bradbury saw O’Connell talk about the “movement skills” and spoke on how he followed the center’s actions through the draft process and thought he did a lot of good things in college.

Finally, he said that it’s all about “finding the right fit for him” and “the right system” in Minnesota. Asking him to be an anchor on every down wasn’t a strength over the last few years, but perhaps using his mobility and putting him in better situations with more help will make a difference going forward.
