Week 8 of the NFL season will earn Mike White a contract that he otherwise may not have gotten. White earned player of the week honors after completing 37-of-45 passes for 405 yards and three touchdowns in a victory over the Super Bowl runner-up Cincinnati Bengals.

White did not express simple competency at the quarterback position, but the ability to put up big numbers and win the game, not just manage it. His final two touchdowns came in the last five minutes of the win over the Bengals.

White expressed all the traits that would make him deserving of an NFL contract and follows a similar path to that of Washington Commanders quarterback Taylor Heinicke, who spent some time with the Vikings as well.

White is a restricted free agent this offseason, meaning the Vikings would have to match his current contract value of $850,000, a very minimal amount to the value they could get in return.
