Which high-risk players should the Minnesota Vikings consider when 2022 free agency gets underway?

With a new regime beginning its time with the Minnesota Vikings, predicting how the organization will approach a crucial free agency period in 2022 is difficult.

General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O’Connell have to put the right pieces in place with a view to hitting the ground running, which might be difficult with the organization currently $14.7 million over the cap and how many holes need filling before competitive games begin once again.

There is still a lot of talent on the Vikings. It’s also worth remembering that had they emerged victoriously from some close-fought games throughout the 2021 campaign, then postseason football would have been well within their reach.

Making such big changes in key roles normally comes with a period of transition. However, all the talk in Minnesota is of reloading rather than a full-scale rebuild, which is the best way to go about things providing young roster members develop as expected in the coming months.

Considering the current financial plight facing the Vikings, they might need to get creative in free agency. That means gambling on certain individuals who are talented but come with a little bit of baggage, which might complicate matters.

With this in mind, here are four high-risk free agents that the Vikings might consider when the market opens in the not-too-distant future.
