Wyatt Davis – OL

Getting Wyatt Davis with the 86th overall pick in 2021 seemed like a home run for the Vikings. The big man out of Ohio State was highly touted, with an ACL injury being the cause for his draft day downfall. Many expected Davis to earn a starting spot on the line immediately, but that day never came.

Davis was held to being a special team’s player for 2021, a far drop off from the preseason expectations Vikings fans had created in their heads.

Some may see this as a cause for concern, as the likes of Oli Udoh and Dakota Dozier were above Davis in the pecking order, but with recent news coming out about the attitude that Mike Zimmer held towards the team, was being benched any of Davis’ fault?

As a player that some predicted as being a second-round talent, it would be a shock that Davis just flat out can’t play the game of football like it may have seemed under Mike Zimmer.

There’s a new sheriff in town now, and with a new coaching staff comes a clean slate for Wyatt Davis. This offseason has already shown that he is extremely motivated for the 2022 season and is doing everything that he can to win a starting guard spot.

Every Minnesota fan is rooting for Davis to take a that big step in 2022, as the offensive line has struggled for far too long for the Vikings franchise, and adding a young, motivated, and potential-filled guard to the line certainly can’t hurt.
