Detroit Lions
Inter-division trades don’t happen very often, especially when quarterbacks are involved. But would the Vikings turn down a deal for Kirk Cousins if the Lions were willing to send over one of their two first-round picks in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft?
Even if Detroit does offer Minnesota a first-round pick, it might come with the stipulation that the Vikings have to take Jared Goff in the deal. However, this is something that Minnesota might actually be fine with since acquiring Goff in exchange for Cousins would create almost $25 million in cap space for the Vikings.
Plus, Goff has a history with new Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell. In 2020 when O’Connell was in his first season as the Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator, Goff was his starting quarterback.
As for Cousins, the Lions are a team that he probably wouldn’t mind suiting up for since they play their home games in the same state that he grew up in. With his career in the NFL getting closer to the end, perhaps he would enjoy spending his last few years in the league suiting up for his hometown team.
