The Minnesota Vikings should absolutely consider trading veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins this offseason.

It promises to be an eventful offseason period for the Minnesota Vikings. Plenty of changes have taken place behind the scenes and there should be a lot more to come regarding personnel in the not-too-distant future as the new regime looks to stamp its mark on the organization right out of the gate.

Although Kevin O’Connell has stated how excited he is to build around Kirk Cousins, the quarterback’s future remains in some doubt as dominoes begin to fall across the league. Aaron Rodgers is staying with the Green Bay Packers, Russell Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos, and the Washington Commanders took a major gamble by acquiring Carson Wentz after a failed year as part of the Indianapolis Colts.

Cousins is set to count a whopping $45 million against Minnesota’s salary-cap next season, according to Sportrac. And multiple reports suggest the former Michigan State star is not willing to help out the team and take a restructure of any kind.

This could force the Vikings‘ hand when it’s all said and done. Cousins is still a solid performer under center, but there might not ever be a better time to move on from the signal-caller for some valuable draft capital.

With this in mind, here are four reasons the Vikings should consider trading Cousins this offseason if the right sort of offer presents itself.
