Vikings 2022 Draft: 5-round post-combine mock draft
By Adam Carlson
Fifth-Round Pick:
D’Marco Jackson, LB – Appalachian State
It hurts a little bit to wait until the fifth round to draft a linebacker. At the moment, Eric Kendricks appears to be the only locked-in starter with Anthony Barr moving on and a variety of players taking snaps at the third spot.
Jackson is a 6’1 linebacker weighing in at 233 pounds who is coming off an amazing final college year. He had 20 tackles for a loss during that campaign, including six sacks, five pass defenses, and 119 total tackles.
His toughness and leadership are two of his greatest qualities as well as his ability to slip past or between blocks to get to the ball carrier. Jackson may need a little time to develop his balance and tackling form, but he could be well worth the investment.
For now, the Vikings should look at Jackson as a player they can plug in immediately on special teams while he adjusts to the NFL. If he can do that, he could be a diamond in the rough for the purple and gold.
