Which teams could potentially trade for Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen in 2022?
Some big changes could be on the immediate horizon for the Minnesota Vikings. The team has a new head coach and general manager following ownership’s decision to press the reset button after failing to reach the postseason once again, which comes with a complete re-evaluation of almost everybody on the roster outside of one or two indispensable figures.
The Vikings are currently $14 million over the cap, so the margin for error is incredibly slim. Those in power will also need to make some serious sacrifices in the coming days to comply with the league’s financial regulations.
Whether this comes in the way of releases or restructures remains to be seen. According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Vikings are also considering shifting some of their top stars via trade.
This includes Adam Thielen, a prolific wide receiver who emerged from relative obscurity to become one of the league’s most consistent pass-catchers.
Over the Cap projects Minnesota’s savings to be $5.84 million if Thielen is traded before June 1. After this date, the hometown hero would cost just $4.3 million in dead-cap with $12.64 million in savings.
