New England Patriots

Now that the New England Patriots have their quarterback of the future in Mac Jones, it’s vital they get the right pieces to assist the former Alabama star in the passing game. Bill Belichick spent big for the first time ever in free agency last year and another bold move or two this offseason cannot be ruled out if they want to get themselves back into Super Bowl contention.

There were reports emanating from the NFL Scouting Combine surrounding the Patriots discussing a potential trade for Robby Anderson from the Carolina Panthers. So it appears as if New England wants to acquire a veteran even if they do end up acquiring a talented prospect from the draft.

Adam Thielen has the sort of work ethic and big-game experience that the Patriots love. He looks like a solid scheme fit and providing the price is right, it’s hard to envisage a call not being made to the Minnesota Vikings on Belichick’s behalf.

This also gets Thielen out of the NFC, which will be considered beneficial for the Vikings if they eventually decided to trade one of their veteran pieces. Just what it would take for Minnesota to pull the trigger is anybody’s guess, but it’s worth remembering that the Patriots did give up a second-round pick for Mohamed Sanu once upon a time.

Belichick is the master at this sort of stuff. Getting players approaching the end of their prime and prolonging it just a while longer.
