A report has emerged stating that the Minnesota Vikings have expressed some interest in trading for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

The interesting offseason for the Minnesota Vikings continues to get more interesting. All eyes have been on Kirk Cousins and his massive salary cap hit for 2022 but the team has been reported to be interested in a different signal-caller.

Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network recently released a report stating that the Vikings are among a handful of teams that have expressed an interest in trading for Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

The report states that “league sources” have linked the Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the New Orleans Saints in inquiring about his services.

Watson reportedly has a list of teams he would be willing to be traded to since he has a no-trade clause on his contract. That list did include the Minnesota Vikings, making the odds of a deal getting done a little higher.

Renewed interest in Watson stems from a grand jury that did not indict the young passer on any criminal charges based on allegations brought forward by massage therapists. Watson is still facing 22 civil charges based on the allegations.

If a deal does get made between the Texans and Vikings, odds are that it will include quarterback Kirk Cousins, some high draft picks, and possibly more players in order to obtain the 26-year-old quarterback.

Wilson stated in his article that  Minnesota appears to be an “attractive potential destination for Watson given the presence of wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen and running back Dalvin Cook.”

This will be an interesting situation to watch develop. At this moment, there is no real rush in moving Kirk Cousins since a trade for Watson would essentially be a wash in terms of the salary cap. However, if the Minnesota Vikings are indeed looking to the future, Trading in a 33-year-old quarterback for a one seven years younger has to be at least a little interesting.
