How can the Minnesota Vikings best prepare for the future during the 2022 offseason period?

All signs point to this being one of the important offseason periods in recent memory for the Minnesota Vikings. A new head coach and general manager are in place, who need to shake things up pretty quickly to comply with the salary cap and keep the organization competitive in 2022.

That will be easier said than done, obviously. Minnesota has a ton of talent on both sides of the football, but some tough decisions are upcoming to sustain the Vikings‘ short and long-term future.

The NFL is a win-now business, no matter how many teams talk of rebuilding. Fans are impatient, and with no postseason football to speak of over the last two seasons, the Vikings know there is a lot on the line in the coming months.

However, keeping the bigger picture in mind would also be beneficial. Here are four ways the Vikings can best prepare for the future this offseason.

Continue developing young talent

Nobody is expecting the Vikings roster to not go through some substantial changes between now and their 2022 season opener. However, what they do have are some exciting young pieces they should continue developing regardless of who comes and goes.

This is the best way for sustained success. Finding the right pieces through the draft and progressing their skills on cheap deals is highly advantageous and pivotal for a team that is not expected to have much salary cap space this year.

Securing some solid prospects from the draft will only help Minnesota’s cause. But it’s also important those already on the team make the necessary improvements.
